Calling all Volunteers!
Volunteers make the world go round — and keep our club running smoothly. Other than the coaches who implement the Skate Canada program and teach on the ice, every other job in the club, and in the SunParlour Region, is performed by a volunteer. There are so many ways, large and small, at the rink and at home, that you and your skater can support the operations of the club.
Getting your feet wet...
Consider offering your talents and services on a one time basis.
- Stuff the mailboxes with a monthly newsletter.
- Selling tickets for Carnival during a skating session when your child is on the ice.
- Give us two hours of your time to set up on the day of Carnival or to clean up afterward.
- Wash costumes.
- Hand out or collect costumes for Carnival during your child's ice session.
- Sell flowers or programs on the day of Carnival.
- Be a dressing room supervisor during Carnival.
- Distribute Carnival advertising in the community.
- Be or find a sponsor for Carnival or a flight of skaters at a competition.
- Provide baked goods to feed the workers at a local skating competition. Everyone working at these competitions is a volunteer too!
- Provide baked goods and pot luck dishes on our skating test days to feed the judges, Test Chair and his/her volunteers, and the coaches. Some treats for skaters and their families are also needed on test days.
- Work at a competition for a 4 hour shift (handing out medals, selling flowers, at admissions, collecting music, running results from judges, providing door security). Volunteer credit hours are provided and snacks are included!
- Create a bulletin board for our club.
- Work a bingo and earn credits toward your child's skating.
- Attend an Amherstburg Town Council meeting regarding issues affecting Skate Amherstburg and recreation.
- Come to our Annual General Meeting and vote. Treats provided!

Bingo
Volunteering to work bingos is a great way to help raise money for your skater and for the club. Bingo workers now need to attend a training session prior to working a bingo. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Cathy Fox at info@skateamherstburg.ca for more information.
